Drawing in Dovedale

Dovedale is a beauty spot. That’s why, for me, it is a challenge to go and draw there, as there are hundreds of people visiting every day, and it can be a distraction when lots of people come by and are interested in seeing someone drawing. It’s nice to talk but difficult to get the drawing done. But I thought I would give it a go, and was so pleased I went there. It’s incredibly beautiful! Surprisingly! I found a small knoll to sit on that was off the path a little and had a fantastic view of the stepping stones and the beautiful river, the hills beyond with mist coming down, and all the people and dogs coming and going. A dog silently came up behind me and nudged my back. I was so surprised I yelped and jumped up in terror. There was a young dog I saw in the distance who was beside itself with excitement. It was running round in circles and finally jumped in the river and swam round in circles. Lots of walkers showed friendly interest but didn’t disturb me. Some offered to pose to be included in the picture and it was all great.
